In a country famed for its beauty, the most iconic images associated with Montenegro are of the tiny islet named Sveti Stefan, a fortified village dating back to the 15th century. Today, the island’s picturesque cluster of sturdy stone buildings, together with Villa Miločer, a graceful residence on the mainland across the bay, comprises the idyllic beachside resort of Aman Sveti Stefan. Completed in 1936, Villa Miločer was originally the summer residence of Queen Marija. Presenting eight Suites at Villa Miločer and 51 Village Rooms, Cottages and Suites on the island, the resort also offers a standalone Aman Spa and numerous dining venues.

Your Stay
Perhaps the most iconic image associated with Montenegro, the fortified island of Sveti Stefan dates back to a tie when Adriatic pirates held sway over this crystal-clear coastline. Attached to the mainland by a narrow isthmus, the resorted village lies across the bay from Villa Milocer, a former royal retreat. Along with 80 acres of grounds, two kilometres of beach and a standalone Aman Spa, these two historic sites comprise Aman Sveti Stefan.
The island of Sveti Stefan houses fifty-one rooms, cottages and suites connected by stone steps and cobbled paths. These meticulously resorted dwellings feature hand-rendered stucco, stone and local oak, in keeping with the village’s rustic legacy, with views out to the sea or over fragrant gardens.
On the mainland, the 19th century Villa Milocer lies on the coastline amid some 800 olive trees, surrounded by ancient forests of pine and cedar. The residence is home to six elegant suites, with two further suites in a separate building.
What to Do
A land of rugged snow-capped mountains, ancient forests and pristine lakes, Montenegro’s meandering coast is home to a series of ancient towns and natural wonders. Just north of Aman Sveti Stefan, the town of Budva is two millennia old. Farther up the coast Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, combines some of the region’s best-preserved architecture with exceptional beauty.

The Food of Love
Local ingredients fill the menus at Aman Sveti Stefan’s varied dining venues, from Arva to the convivial Piazza and intimate Dining Room at Villa Milocer. Organic vegetables and fruits are accompanied by sea bass, octopus and rock oysters direct from the Adriatic and pasture-fed beef from the north of Montenegro, as well as a variety of local cheeses, honeys and jams, olive oils and herbs.
From October to May, the Island and its facilities are closed, but Villa Milocer remains open.
