Love at First Sight
The Elephant Bedroom Camp's name gives it away – staying at this idyllic camp, you may well see elephants, not to mention other wildlife, sauntering through the unfenced property. There's nothing to fear though, trained and experienced guards ensure your complete safety at all times. This Kenyan safari camp has a gorgeous location overlooking the waters of the Ewaso Nyiro River, itself a magnet for wildlife of all kinds which you'll be able to watch from the comfort of your decked tent. Romance
It's called a camp, but in fact it's one with all modern safari amenities and plenty of luxury. The beautiful setting by the river with a background of distant mountains, plus the extraordinary wildlife, makes this an excellent choice for a romantic break or celebration of any kind. You can get married at Elephant Bedroom and the wedding package includes dinner for two with a bottle of wine the night before the ceremony, a one-hour Swedish massage for both of you, a traditional African dance performance and a bubbly breakfast in bed the day after the wedding.
Your Stay
The Elephant Bedroom tents are raised from the ground and have hardwood flooring and electricity, as well as fully equipped en suite bathrooms with complimentary herbal shower and bath products. All tents have decks with plunge pools and the interiors are decorated with African artefacts and colourful traditionally woven fabrics. Free WIFI internet access is available in the camp's lounge.
What to Do
The stars of the show here are undoubtedly the animals that inhabit the surrounding Samburu National Reserve and the camp offers daily game drives in four-wheel drive open-sided vehicles. Species you may see include elephants, leopards, impalas and giraffes as well as 5 endemic species. The camp's resident naturalist can help you to understand the ecology of the surrounding area and guided bush walks are available. In the evenings, you can marvel at the glorious sunsets with a cocktail, or watch exciting dance performances by local Samburu warriors.
The Food of Love
The dining area is decorated in traditional Kenyan style and you can expect dishes like pepper seared fillet steak with thyme sauce, herbed spinach crepes with salsa salad, and chicken and vegetable curry with cardamom rice. Meals can also be taken al fresco on the main area deck overlooking the river.
