Love at First Sight
Take the long romantic drive up, passing the lake with tee-pee's and pool, when your eyes are automatically drawn to the beautiful Chateau de Lerse. What a magnificent, spacious and lovely secluded location in the french countryside. Drop your suitcases off at the front terrace, park your car by following the path around to the back. You have arrived!
You are welcomed through the large 'Compostella' gates recognized by the shells over the top of the arch. A choice of 4 individually styled chateau rooms, an independent pigeonnier and family gite outside the chateau await you. Feeling a bit more adventurous & amoureux? Why not book a tee-pee for one night too?
Romance
Chateau de Lerse itself oozes romance; the drive, the chateau, the location, the countryside, the privacy. You can pick your own romantic spot, there is so much space to choose from, 105 hectares in fact. Chill by the pool together or have a swim in the lake. Stroll around the countryside or take a bike or hire a vespa for a more active romantic tour around the rolling hills of the Charente. You can also book tasting tours for pineau de Charente (the local drink), wine and even foie gras, what the french are famous for! Romantic meals can be enjoyed with an aperitif onsite (please give 24hrs notice to the chef).
Your Stay
Your stay includes your booked accommodation and home cooked breakfast for 2 (at your convenient time).
Make yourself at home, spread out, read a book inside or out, play the piano, meditate outdoors, go for long walks, enjoy wild swimming in the lake, or rent a vespa for a tour around the quiet and stunning Charente countryside... then come back to base. Chill with a glass of wine or bubbly on one of terraces or in the bar, let the chef prepare some delicious fresh homegrown food for you and your loved one. Choose a good bottle of wine from the chateau's own wine cellar to accompany your meal. Pick your dining spot, the choice is yours, outdoors or in? What better way to finish the day than to watch some amazing skies, snuggle up by the fire, watch a movie and finally retreat to your own little paradise. Enjoy, la vie est belle.
What to Do
The Food of Love
Joss, our chef, is your man. He loves food and with years of experience he can show off his skills to you at Chateau de Lerse. The food and ingredients he uses are mostly homegrown and fresh and that includes even the chateau's own beef from their herds of belted Galloway cattle. Although Joss is famous for his divine scrambled eggs at breakfast, he will also prepare lunch and dinner for you (there is no menu, the food changes daily) should you wish him to do so.
A romantic dinner for two can be enjoyed under the stars at the grand terrace, the petit terrace, 'sous le préau' at the longest (6.5. metres) oak table you've ever seen or indoors. The choice is yours. Please note: the chef needs 24hr notice from you to prepare a 3 course dinner @ €50pp excluding drinks.
