This is winter romance at its most powerful. Quiet, remote, and completely unforgettable.

  • Romance in the Paris of the North
  • Northern Lights • Canada’s Most Northern Day Spa • Wilderness Romance
  • Tr’ondëk-Klondike UNESCO World Heritage Site • Dawson City, Yukon, Canada

There are few things more romantic than watching the northern lights dance across the sky together. Now imagine doing it from the outdoor hot tub of Canada’s most northern day spa — a spa that’s exclusively yours for the evening — in a UNESCO World Heritage town known as “The Paris of the North.”

The Aurora Escape is a 6-day winter romance package built around Dawson City’s two most extraordinary natural gifts: the aurora borealis and the raw, snow-covered wilderness of the Yukon. Enjoy a guided 4-hour northern lights tour with an expert local guide, three nights at our boutique Dawson Lodge with nightly dining at the Yukon Spa restaurant, and an unforgettable evening of exclusive private spa access with massage, facial, and a private dinner for two — with the chance to watch the aurora from the hot tub between courses.

Bookended by nights in Whitehorse with all domestic flights and transfers included, this is a seamless winter escape into one of the most magical places on Earth.

The Northern Lights

Dawson City sits just 240 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle, making it one of the premier aurora viewing destinations in the world. From September to March, the northern lights are a regular feature of the dark Yukon sky. Dawson’s remote location means minimal light pollution, and the long winter nights provide hours of potential viewing. The aurora can appear as a gentle green glow on the horizon or as vivid, dancing curtains of colour stretching from horizon to horizon. No two displays are ever the same.

The on-site Yukon Spa is Canada’s most northern day spa, offering two saunas, steam room, hot tub, swim spa, float tank, massage, facials, and aesthetic treatments. The spa café and restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, providing the perfect complement to your wellness journey. In winter, the outdoor hot tub and relaxation areas offer front-row seats to the northern lights — an experience that defines what it means to relax at the edge of the world.

When to Visit

The Aurora Escape is available from September to March, coinciding with Dawson City’s northern lights season. The best aurora viewing tends to be on clear, cold nights between October and March, when the skies are darkest. September and early October also offer the bonus of autumn colours in the surrounding mountains. Temperatures in winter can drop to –40°C and below — but the lodge is warm, the spa is hot, and the northern lights are worth every degree.

Your Itinerary

  • Day 1 — Arrive in the Yukon

Fly from Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton to Whitehorse, the gateway to Canada’s North. Enjoy a complimentary airport transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore Yukon’s capital — stroll along the frozen Yukon River, visit the MacBride Museum of Yukon History, browse local galleries and cafes, or simply take in the crisp northern air and snow-dusted mountain views. Keep your eyes on the sky after dark — the aurora can appear anywhere in the Yukon.

Day 2 — Fly North to Dawson City

Fly from Whitehorse to Dawson City — a spectacular journey over snow-covered boreal forest and mountain ranges. On arrival, a transfer brings you to the Dawson Lodge, our boutique eco-friendly hotel in the heart of the historic downtown, steps from the frozen Yukon River, heritage buildings, and Dawson’s famous wooden boardwalks dusted with snow. Settle into your queen room with luxury Logan & Cove mattress, rain shower, and eco-friendly amenities. This evening, enjoy a 4-course dinner at the Yukon Spa restaurant (drinks not included). After dinner, explore Dawson’s legendary winter nightlife — try the infamous Sourtoe Cocktail at the Sourdough Saloon, catch a show at Diamond Tooth Gerties (Canada’s first legal casino and gambling hall), or step outside and look up — Dawson City is one of the best places in the world to see the northern lights, and they can appear at any moment.

Day 3 — Northern Lights Tour

Breakfast at the Yukon Spa café, then a free day to explore Dawson City together. Visit the Tr’ondëk-Klondike UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Dänojà Zho Cultural Centre, the Dawson City Museum, or wander the snow-covered boardwalks and frozen riverside. Dawson in winter has a magic all its own — quiet, beautiful, and utterly unique.

The evening is the highlight: a 4-hour guided northern lights tour with an expert local guide. Head out into the darkness beyond the town’s lights to the best viewing locations, where the aurora borealis can fill the entire sky — shimmering curtains of green, purple, and pink dancing overhead. Your guide shares stories of the land, the First Nations connection to the lights, and the science behind the spectacle. Hot drinks keep you warm as you wait for nature’s greatest light show. It’s an experience that stays with you forever. Return to the lodge and enjoy your second 4-course dinner at the Yukon Spa (drinks not included).

Day 4 — Explore Dawson & Exclusive Spa Evening

Breakfast at the Yukon Spa café, then another free day in Dawson City. Explore sites you may have missed — Dredge No. 4 National Historic Site, the Jack London Museum, the artists’ market, or take a winter walk along the mighty frozen Yukon River. In winter, Dawson City feels like a snow globe — heritage buildings framed by mountains, wood smoke rising into cold blue skies, and a stillness that makes everything feel more intimate.

Then comes the centrepiece of your stay: an evening of total exclusivity at Canada’s most northern day spa. A facility that normally welcomes up to 30 guests becomes entirely yours for three private hours. Move freely between two saunas, the steam room, hot tub, and swim spa at your own pace, with no one else around. The indoor relaxation area is set intimately for two — a private table for your 4-course dinner, with just two loungers beside it, creating the most personal dining setting imaginable. Each guest receives a full massage and facial during the session.

And then there’s the aurora. On clear nights, the northern lights are visible directly from the outdoor hot tub and relaxation areas. Imagine soaking in the hot water under a sky alive with colour — just the two of you, in complete privacy, at the most northern spa in Canada. Move inside for your next course, step back out for another glimpse of the lights. It’s an evening that simply doesn’t exist anywhere else on Earth (drinks not included with dinner).

Day 5 — Return to Whitehorse

Final breakfast at the Yukon Spa café, then transfer to the airport for your flight back to Whitehorse. Check in to your Whitehorse hotel and enjoy a free afternoon and evening — visit the Takhini Hot Springs for one last soak, browse local galleries, or gather for a final meal out to reflect on an extraordinary few days in the North.

Day 6 — Departure

Complimentary airport transfer for your flight home to Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton. Depart with memories — and stories — that will last a lifetime.
