This Grade II* Listed manor house dates from 1633 and is surrounded by three acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and grounds. Couples enjoy the atmospheric Colonnade Courtyard, the award-winning fine dining restaurant, the relaxing dog friendly bar and 33 luxurious bedrooms–choose from a collection of spacious double or twin rooms and Suites, each being unique in its decor.
Holdsworth House is a unique and historic hotel. It remains privately owned, having been in the same family for over 60 years. The manor is lovingly and maintained and is set near the Yorkshire countryside and famous Calderdale Way walking route. This elegant manor offers the perfect romantic retreat with its secluded gardens and intimate spaces, and is sure to capture the heart.
For marriage proposals choose the historic Stone Gazebo in the gardens or a exclusive private dining room where the team can assist with any surprises arrangements you want to organise.
Holdsworth House specialises in small weddings, from 10 to 120 guests. Whether it's an outdoor wedding ceremony or a candlelit dinner indoors, Holdsworth House offers a range of spaces and an ideal blend of timeless beauty and modern comfort for a memorable celebration.
Romance
As you step over the threshold of Holdsworth House, you’re transported to a world where little has changed in over 400 years. Originally built as a grand manor during the reign of Charles I, the house still retains the warmth and intimacy of a private residence. Surrounded by romantic gardens, the peaceful ambiance and historic charm make it a perfect setting for a proposal, honeymoon, or wedding.
Stroll through the serene gardens, bask in the glow of the setting sun, or enjoy a glass of champagne by the fire in our cosy lounges. Every corner of Holdsworth House invites you to slow down and savour the moment.
For a truly unforgettable experience, explore the windswept Bronte moors or take a leisurely day trip to nearby Halifax Piece Hall, the only remaining Georgian cloth hall in the world. Alternatively, unwind in our beautiful restaurant with afternoon tea with views through the ancient mullioned windows to the south-facing gardens.
For a unique culinary experience, enjoy a private dining experience in one of our historic rooms. The menus include locally sourced ingredients and carefully selected wines, a nightcap by the fires round off an extra special evening.
Your Stay
At Holdsworth House, you can choose from one of our 33 luxurious House doubles and Suites. Each room is decorated individually with William Morris-inspired wallpapers and elegant furnishings for a truly romantic atmosphere. Our Split-level Suites are truly unique with a lounge area and bathroom downstairs and the bed on the upper level. Our Executive Suites offer the wow factor with a choice of rooms with four-poster beds or french patio doors to the side garden. All rooms have an en suite bathroom and a number are dog friendly.
For an extra touch of romance, we can arrange champagne in your room upon arrival, a rose petal scattered bed or flowers and chocolates. Soft lighting can be set to create the perfect intimate ambiance. If there is anything special you’d like to make your stay unforgettable, simply let us know and we will do our best to arrange it: specific areas can be reserved for private use. For a truly private experience, you can even book the entire manor for your special event.

Take a trip to the village of Haworth, a charming and historic destination just a short drive from Holdsworth House. This quaint village is famous for its cobbled streets and as the home of the Brontë sisters. With stunning views across the rugged countryside, Haworth is a must-visit for those seeking a taste of Yorkshire’s literary and cultural heritage.
Hebden Bridge and its artisan shops and cafes is very dog friendly, and is home to the National Trust Hardcastle Craggs, a beautiful woodland walk that leads to Gibson Mill.
The Yorkshire Sculpture Park or the historic Salts Mill at Saltaire–with its collection of David Hockney art–are a must for culture and art-lovers.
From birds of prey activities and llama trekking to road rock climbing, off-road cycling or canal walks, there is much to attract the outdoor enthusiast.

Holdsworth House is famous for its afternoon tea, which can be taken in a quiet corner of the gardens, courtyard or any of the halls. Any meal can be made to order to suit dietary preferences and allergies.
For the more adventurous, we can arrange a special picnic for you to take tot the the scenic Yorkshire countryside, such as the rolling hills of the Bronte moors of Wuthering Heights fame. Or choose a quiet spot in the Holdsworth House gardens. After a day of exploring, unwind in our informal bar with a handcrafted cocktail or one of over 60 gins, as the sun sets.
