An artistically inspired hotel, not only because of its location or because it has been built out of an ancient college, but because art is the theme running throughout it. Do not expect glaring signs. The entrance is a minimalist corridor imitating the many art galleries lining Via Margutta, a long pedestrian corridor, with the walls lined in shining white marble, paved with white cobbles, and illuminated with a creation by the artist Enzo Catellani, leading to the Hall. Besides the light, another particular feature of this hotel are the colours. The corridors of the four storeys, which lead to the 46 rooms and suites, are distinguished by four different colours, blue, orange, yellow and green, and these become more intense at the guest entrance. The materials used to line the walls, glass and resin, combine strong colours with transparency, and this amplifies the space. On the ground, strips of light run along the sides of the corridor, and on these are written lines by poets such Garcia Lorca and Octavio Paz.
This charming boutique hotel is in the heart of the Eternal City. Roman cuisine is defined by a unique set of ingredients, techniques, and dishes that set it apart from the food of all other Italian cities. While the traditional trattorias and osterias still dominate the dining options and serve a predictable (if delicious) litany of specialties such as cacio e pepe (pasta with pecorino Romano and black pepper), carbonara (pasta with egg, cured pork jowl or belly, pecorino, and black pepper), roasted lamb, and assorted offal, there are now an increasing number of alternatives, from fast-food riffs on local recipes to international flavors and neo-trattorias.
Though the past decade has seen some serious shifts in local dining habits, generally speaking, lunch is served from 12:30 until 3 p.m. (with a final seating around 2:15 p.m.) and dinner from 7:30 until 11 p.m. (with a final seating around 10:15 p.m.).
