Ever since its opening in 1905, it has been one of the most prominent hotels in Genoa, and it is well-known on an international level for the quality and excellence of the services it offers. During last year's renovation its elegance and exclusiveness were blended with a modern and functional conception of hospitality.

What to Do

Stay in an amazing geographic location between Cinque Terre, Portofino, and the Langhe Area. Genoa, the capital of Liguria, has been nicknamed «La Superba» (the Superb One) due to its glorious past and impressive landmarks.

During the Columbian celebrations in 1992, the Expo Area has been completely renovated by Renzo Piano to feature the Aquarium and the New Marina. Populated by seals, dolphins, sharks, penguins and fish of all kinds and colors, the Aquarium in Genova is one of the largest and most visited in Europe.

The symbol of Genoa is traditionally "La Lanterna" (the Lighthouse), an old standing lighthouse visible from far away in the distance, which successfully joins the modern skyline.

Genoa’s historic centre is one of the largest in Europe. The main square boasts the monumental fountain of Piazza De Ferrari, recently restored. The structure of Genoa’s oldest part is articulated in a maze of squares and narrow caruggi (typical Genoese alleys). Among these you may find medieval churches and the magnificent Palazzi dei Rolli, ancient houses of noble families, a consistent part of which are Unesco Heritage. The most notable are Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Tursi, all part of the same museum tour and all housing extraordinary works of art dating back to between the 15th. and 19th centuries. Palazzo Ducale was the seat of the government of the Republic of Genoa and has now become Genoa’s cultural hub with important exhibitions and events hosted within on a regular basis. It is also possible to see the palace dungeons: among others, the famous composer Niccolo’ Paganini and freedom fighter Jacopo Ruffini both served time here.

In the very heart of Genoa lies the museum-house of Christopher Columbus, well worth a visit. The Opera House of Genova, named Carlo Felice, is one of the most famous in Italy for the many successful ballets and concerts taking place all year long. From the wonderful viewpoint of Spianata di Castelletto one can benefit from some of the most scenic views in town, overlooking the rooftops of the old town, the port and the Lanterna lighthouse.

Corso Italia is Genoa’s main seaside promenade, popular with families, joggers and skaters alike, and ending at Boccadasse, a fisherman village full of local charm.

A boat trip inside Genoa harbor will show you the most interesting and peculiar aspects of one of Europe’s largest working harbors. It is also possible to take a boat trip to Portofino, Camogli, or Cinque Terre starting from Genoa for a day visit.

During the summer season, natural beaches and Beach Resorts within Genoa and the surrounding towns are available.

The shopping district boasts the smartest designer shops and the most important Italian Fashion brands. For true shopaholics, Serravalle Designer Outlet, the largest outlet in Europe, is only half an hour away!

The Food of Love

The Giotto Restaurant is located on the second floor in a prestigious frescoed hall that goes by the same name. In an elegant and welcoming atmosphere it offers guests and local passersby a rich and varied proposal of à la carte dishes. The beautiful terrace, which overlooks the restaurant, is open from Spring to Autumn offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here, it’s a real pleasure to take a coffee, a quick lunch, or simply enjoy a drink.

In the morning a rich complimentary American buffet breakfast, where you can also find a corner with dedicated products for persons suffering from celiac disease, welcomes all guests on the second floor. Room service also available.

The cuisine typical of Genoa tastefully reveals the character of the land and the creativity of its people. With simple cooking methods, the Genoese have skilfully invented dishes that are authentic, flavourful and extraordinarily enticing, among which the most famous is Pesto, the sauce made with basil.

Cooking-classes in order to learn the true making of pesto available, as well as tours to the Langhe area for truffle and wine tasting.
