Set in a modern building on Madrid's most fashionable avenue, Paseo de la Castellana, Hotel Hesperia Madrid is an oasis of first-class comfort in the busy Spanish capital city. The discreetly luxurious ambience of the hotel is confirmed from the moment you arrive when you'll be greeted at the door by a smartly uniformed doorman. Amenities at the hotel include three restaurants – one of which is graced by two Michelin stars - a fitness room and an open air gym on the roof. The hotel is just a few steps from the Gregorio Marañón Station, making it easy to get around the city via the efficient metro system.
Madrid is a city of art, culture and heritage and undeniably one of Europe's most romantic destinations. It's an ideal setting for a romantic break with its excellent art galleries, chic boutiques and the superb choice of restaurants, cafes and bars, not to mention the impressive period and modern architecture. You can also get married at the hotel where a professional wedding planner will be on hand to make sure that your big day is a thoroughly memorable and enjoyable experience.
Decor and furnishings in the hotel's 171 rooms and suites combine traditional elegance and contemporary style. All are equipped with flatscreen TVs, iPod docking stations, free wifi and air conditioning. Other facilities include Nespresso coffee makers, minibars and complimentary designer toiletries. For a really special occasion, book one of the Penthouse Suites which are set on the top floor and have a private garden terrace complete with a jetted tub.
The National Museum of Natural Sciences, just a five-minute walk from the hotel, includes a stellar collection of natural history, art and fascinating scientific artefacts. For a stunning artistic experience, visit the Museo del Prado, 25 minutes away by bus, where you can see works by the likes of Velázquez, Goya, Tintoretto and Rembrandt. It's also well worth paying a visit to the Playa Major, Madrid's main square which boasts handsome architecture as well as a thriving street life.
Santceloni is the hotel's principal restaurant and offers fine dining with the distinction of two Michelin stars. The a la carte menu includes dishes like smoked ricotta ravioli with caviar, suckling pig with thyme, and coffee cream with baked chocolate mousse. More informal dining and a Mediterranean menu are available at La Manzana, and Hikari offers freshly made sushi and other Japanese dishes.
