Love at First Sight
Do you fancy a wonderful relaxing holiday in the South of France? Do you want to sleep in one of the five beautiful designed rooms of our elegant and stately 'maison de maître'? Then you have come to the right place! In the little village of Riols, located in the provincial nature park 'Haut-Languedoc' is our chambres d'hôtes 'La Cerisaie' (or: the cherry orchard) situated; a mansion from 1869 surrounded by a beautiful lush garden, containing many flowers and plants, several seats andsun loungers and two hammocks. A nice swimming pool of 10 x 5 meters, surrounded by hardwood chairdecks, is there to relax, which makes it all together a remarkable place.
La Cerisaie breathes the atmosphere of the past, combined with modern comfort. The house is elegant, has a lot of charm and is full of authentic elements such as old wooden floors, marble fireplaces and doors and windows with cut glass. The house has five comfortable rooms, and a studio, for those who would like to have a little kitchenette. All rooms have a private bathroom and the beds are made of wonderfully soft and cooling Egyptian percale cotton.
On the ground floor of the maison we have a common living room with (exchange) library and games, a dining room (when the weather is bad) for a maximum of twelve people. There is also a breakfast room, with a piano, where you can play and impress other guests with your musical talent.
In general, we cook a three-course meal on Saturday, Monday and Thursday evenings, which we serve at long tables outside on the terrace, or inside if the weather is bad. On other days (except Tuesday) you can order a cheese and/or charcuterie board.
There is plenty to do in the area: you can go hiking, cycling, swimming in the lakes or the river Jaur, visit wine estates , taste the lovely wines of the AOC Saint Chinianor go to medieval villages such as Olargues, Minerve or Roquebrun and visit the weekly market there and buy local and home made products.
La Cerisaie welcomes guests aged sixteen and over in the pre- and post-season. In July & August, families with children aged twelve and over are welcome in the gîtes.

Your Stay
To enjou the best of La Cerisaie, we would you suggest to stay at least 2 nights at our place, so you will be able to enhjoy one 'table d'hôtes'. We cook a delicious 3-course menu. It's most fun to enjoy this meal with our other guests, but if you want to have a private romantic dinner we (of course) can arrange that as well. You're more than welcome to enjoy oyr mansion, the pool or our garden, but the surroundings are really beautiful and waiting for you to be explored.
What to Do
Or course you stay at La Cerisaie, and spend a lazy day at the pool. You can read a novel in the garden. But if you want to explore the surroundings, there is plenty to do: - Hiking: several beautiful well sign-posted hikes la the well known Gorges d'Héric; - Biking: Behind our B&B you will find the Passa Païs, an old railway converted in biking path; - Swimming: Go to the lakes in the mountains, or spend a day at the beach of the Mediterranean; - Explore Medieval villages like Minerve, Olargue or Roquebrun; - Taste some wines at one of the excellent wine domains of AOC Saint Chinian; - Have lunch or dinner at some lovely restaurants in the neighbourhood.
