Lumeria Maui is an educational retreat center located in beautiful Upcountry Maui. We offer classes and programs in yoga, meditation, healing arts & metaphysical studies, horticulture, Hawaiian culture, and dance & movement therapies. Our property, originally built in 1910, has been extensively renovated and carefully redesigned to meet the growing needs of individuals and groups on wellness journeys. Guest rooms and suites are offered for students and island visitors seeking overnight accommodations while on retreat. Overnight guests must enroll in Lumeria’s daily classes or be part of a focused retreat group. Lumeria’s onsite restaurant, The Wooden Crate, serves farm-to-table nourishing and delicious meals to students, retreats, community patrons and visitors, and The Wellness Spa at Lumeria offers bodywork, massage and healing arts therapies and private lessons.

Lumeria Maui’s 5.6 acre private retreat offers beautiful views of the north shore and central valley. Lumeria Maui is located between the famous historic plantation towns of Paia and Makawao, with easy access to the best beaches and surf breaks on Maui’s north shore as well as a plethora of offsite adventure and learning experiences.

Maui Gathering Spaces Hale Maluhia (House of Peace) – The Sanctuary/Lobby
Our Lobby Sanctuary is the main gathering space on property, featuring a worldly mix of antiques and artwork. The Sanctuary contains several private sitting areas. In this space we can host meetings, private dinners, and Maui events for up to 80 people.
Outdoor Yoga Platform
This 1,250 square foot outdoor platform can accommodate up to 60 people for yoga, exercise, and meditation in a beautiful natural setting.
Ula Mala – Sunken Garden/Lower Terrace
This outdoor 8,000 square foot garden area is perfect for outdoor yoga practice, martial arts, tai chi, stargazing, events and gatherings and musical performances. The lower terrace is also ideal for unforgettable special occasions, private dining experiences, and events. We can comfortably accommodate up to 100 people for a seated meal.
Kapu Ahi – Outdoor Fire Pits
Every evening our contained outdoor fire pits are lit for guests to meet new friends and share stories of the day’s excursions. Ideal for intimate connections and small gatherings of up to 15 people.
Iki Ohi Hale – Small Yoga Studio/Meeting room
This 750 square foot indoor space is equipped with yoga props, including mats, bolsters, straps and blankets. This room is utilized for a variety of classes daily and can be transformed into a meeting room for private conferences and workshops for up to 40 people at our Maui retreat.
Nui Ohi Hale – Large Yoga Shala/ Meeting Room
This 1,500 square foot indoor space can fit up to 60 people for a class and 80 people for a conference or meeting. The space is ideal for larger groups, retreats, conferences, workshops, meetings, live music performances, dance, yoga and more. The room is equipped with a sound system and high quality microphone headset for instructors with large classes.
Pool and Other Amenities
Our saline pool and jacuzzi offer quiet and privacy while you soak and rejuvenate. Our meditation labyrinth is ideal for quieting the mind and seeking a new perspective. Our hammock forest with ocean views is the perfect place for you to relax with a book between classes, meals and activities while on retreat.
The Wellness Spa at Lumeria offers private indoor treatment rooms adorned with our favorite crystals. Upon request, we offer massages for overnight retreat lodgers in our guest rooms. Our meditation labyrinth, pool and jacuzzi spa round out your well-being experience on property.

Wooden Crate Restaurant and Gardens
Lumeria’s Wooden Crate restaurant celebrates the fresh flavors and time honored tradition of local dining. Healthful, flavorful offerings are available throughout your stay. The tropical and edible landscape on property features Hawaiian herbs, fruit-bearing trees, and other native plants and flowers to honor Maui’s unique botanical heritage. We use our gardens as outdoor classrooms for our horticultural programs to inspire our students and overnight retreat lodgers to create their own unique paradises at home!
