It’s hard to know where to look first when you step across the threshold of one of the standout bedrooms in the entire castle. For starters, there’s the cosy fireplace quietly crackling away in the corner of this spacious room. Then there’s the quaint dressing table and the big comfortable pull-out sofa beds. Or maybe the massive double/twin bed, delicately covered with embroidered pillows and luxurious bedding, will catch your eye. More than any of these however, there’s nothing quite like the view out of the two big bay windows, with their unrivalled views of the castle’s famous gardens. When you’ve taken everything in, take some time to see if you can find the King’s private stairway down to the Van Stry ballroom and see why his quarters were so special.
