he buildings were built in 1912 and are located in Elounda, a worldwide summer destination with huge meaning in Greece’s history. Back in 1912, the buildings accommodated local markets, such as fishmongers, bakeries, and grocers. As soon as the leprosy cases increased, the shops supplied food to the exiles in Spinalonga – the island located directly across from our suites.
When the cure of the for leprosy was discovered, the residents of Spinalonga island where relocated. In 2022, the more than 70 years abandoned buildings were fully restored turning into the modern Petra Elounda Suites we present to you. The old stone construction has been enhanced with the addition of luxurious amenities, offering an accommodation that marries tradition with modernism.
