Love at First Sight
Deep in the rolling Umbrian countryside, about 80 miles north of Rome and a 10-minute drive from the beautiful medieval town of Todi, the Rocca Fiore Resort is surrounded by its own vineyards and olive groves. The hotel is built around a converted farmhouse with newer modern buildings designed to fit in perfectly with their surroundings and styled in an attractive combination of country chic and contemporary aesthetics. Owned by the Baccarelli family, the resort also includes its own winery and you'll certainly get the chance to sample the fine organic wines produced there. The gardens around the hotel include an outdoor pool, and the full-service spa also has an indoor pool.
Romance
The Umbrian countryside and the picturesque and historic towns and villages that punctuate the gorgeous landscapes provide an unbeatable backdrop for a romantic break. The Rocca Fiore offers a special package for couples, Relax for Him and Her, a two-night stay which includes full access to the spa and a couple's massage with essential oils. You can also get married at the resort with a choice of venues such as the Fiorfiore Restaurant, the terrace with stunning views over Todi and Sala Francesca, a light-filled contemporary space in the winery that can accommodate up to 120 guests.
Your Stay
The resort's 13 rooms have contemporary country decor and some have private terraces with countryside views. All come with air conditioning, free wifi and flatscreen TVs. Other amenities include bathrobes and slippers, complimentary toiletries and minibars.
What to Do
Facilities at the hotel's spa include an indoor swimming pool, a whirlpool tub, a steam bath and a relaxation area, and treatments include massages and beauty and wellness therapies. You can take a guided tour of the estate winery with a picnic on the summer terrace. You'll want to explore the charming medieval town of Todi with its 11th-century Gothic cathedral overlooking the splendid piazza, and its magnificent collection of palazzos dating from the 13th to the 17th centuries, all beautifully preserved.
The Food of Love
The Fiorfiore Restaurant has a terrace for al fresco summer dining and most of the produce, including wines and olive oil, comes from the surrounding estate and countryside. You can expect dishes like pumpkin flowers stuffed with ricotta and truffle, ricotta and fresh goat's cheese gnocchi with grilled vegetables, and crisp octopus on a chickpea purée with cinta bacon.
