Love at First Sight
Set on an exclusive Caribbean island in the British Virgin Islands - a tiny dot on the map measuring less than two miles in length. This Private Island resort occupies 230 acres and includes three sandy beaches as well as nature trails, a luxurious tiered pool overlooking the sea and a marina with berths for up to 55 yachts and cruisers. This idyllic island retreat is virtually traffic-free with only a shuttle run by the resort, and is reached by either boat or helicopter. According to legend, Scrub Island is named in recognition of the pirates used to stop here to scrub the barnacles off their ships.
Romance
There can be few places more romantic than this tropical idyll and the staff here work hard to make sure that couples have the stay of a lifetime whether they're getting married, on honeymoon or just taking an exotic break for two. The resort's wedding co-ordinator will help you to plan your big day, with no detail overlooked. There are various locations to hold your ceremony from the golden sands of one of the beaches to the gardens with spectacular ocean views. Special perks for honeymooners and lovers can include a 60-minute couples' massage, dinner for two by the pool, champagne on arrival and a personal concierge service.
Your Stay
The resort has 26 guestrooms and 26 one-bedroom suites, all with private terraces and sweeping views of the sea, and there are also seven villas of varying sizes. Rooms and suites are decorated in traditional Caribbean style with natural timber and strong colours, and all come with Egyptian combed cotton sheets, bamboo ceiling fans and air conditioning, plasma TVs and complimentary L'Occitane toiletries. All have free wifi access.
What to Do
Relax with a cocktail from the poolside bar by the lagoon-style pool featuring different levels and waterfalls, or stroll to one of the three sandy beaches. The Ixora Spa features an infinity pool and relaxation deck with stunning ocean views and offers a complete range of beauty treatments and complementary therapies. For those who need to maintain their workout regime, there is a complimentary fitness center with free weights, high tech strength training and cardio equipment. You can explore the island via the nature trails or join one of the daily excursions which include scuba diving and snorkelling, deep-sea fishing and sailing. You can also take a sea kayak or stand up paddleboard to discover some of the sheltered coves around the coast of island.
The Food of Love
The Caravela overlooks the pool and the marina and offers fine dining with continental classics. Tierra! Tierra! features casual outdoor dining with dishes from the grill and the One Shoe Beach Bar & Grill is located on the North Beach where there's another pool. During the day, you can pick up breakfast pastries, coffees, snacks, deli sandwiches made-to-order and homemade pizza from the Gourmet Market & Café.
