The Acorn Inn

28 Fore Street, Evershot, Dorset, DT2 0JW, United Kingdom

Love at First Sight

The charming Acorn Inn transports you to the pages of a Thomas Hardy novel, as this16th century coaching inn features in Tess of the D’Urbervilles. With old beams, oak panelling and roaring fires, an original skittle alley and fine local cuisine, this is a beautiful rural setting complemented exemplary service. Each of the ten individually designed en-suite guest rooms are themed around Hardy’s novels, locations and characters, while the inn itself is a quintessentially English village pub serving real ales and award-winning food. Follow in the footsteps of the great author and take a stroll around the idyllic village or magnificent nearby deer park.

Sustainability Efforts

There is no end to the romance of the secluded splendour of the Dorset countryside, and the local area is blessed with a natural beauty. Why not walk hand-in-hand amongst the wild deer in the Melbury Park? Here, you can watch the graceful deer frolic in their natural habitat or, if you are lucky enough to stay in May, you can take a relaxing stroll and marvel at the fragrant, thick blanket of bluebells growing in the ancient woodlands, for as far as the eye can see.

Your Stay

The Acorn Inn offers a range of rooms to help you enjoy the sensational scenery of the local area, such as the Superior Double, which boasts plush and lavish furnishings and an extravagant en-suite bathroom. However, to truly experience the romance of the hotel, then the elaborate Tess Room is the perfect place for you to stay. It includes a 400 year-old carved four-poster king bed and a bay window overlooking the local village, making it easy to curl up in each other's arms and watch the world go by…

What to Do

Nestled in 26 acres of Dorset’s glorious countryside, lies Sculpture by the Lakes, an oasis for art lovers and collectors alike, created by renowned sculptor Simon Gudgeon. His vision was to create an environment for enthusiasts that blends nature’s beauty with the inspiring works of art, free from the constraints of the enclosed spaces of a traditional gallery. The Sculpture Park has been carefully landscaped and curated to ensure that each piece is positioned to enhance its aesthetic qualities, as well as the visual surroundings. You can even enjoy the secluded tranquillity of your own island in the heart of the lake.

The Food of Love

The Hardy Bar has an old-fashioned sophistication, with hand-crafted oak panelling, deep leather upholstered suites and a roaring log fire. Using only the freshest locally-sourced ingredients, the menu is made up of traditional yet creative dishes, sitting alongside real ale and an exceptional wine list. Its delicious cuisine has also been recognised by the experts, and it has proudly received Gold in the Taste of the West Awards for three years in a row. After dinner, the elegant bar is the perfect place to sip champagne or a cocktail, and truly unwind with your loved one.
