Let us know if you're staying with us for a special occasion and we'll add some extra special touches to help you celebrate. Recommended romantic experiences we offer include a scenic drive to the waterfalls or a canoe safari along the river for romantic sun-downer and for the more adventurous staying 3 nights or more, why not consider a fly camping experience for a night you'll always remember. We also offer bespoke wedding services for couples who would like to get married here.

Your Stay

Drawing those who seek an exceptional wilderness experience in one of Malawi’s last truly unexploited natural areas, Tongole is a multi-award winning eco-lodge set deep within the beautiful miombo woodland of the 1,800 km² Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve and is the only luxury lodge in the reserve. The lodge offer four luxury riverside suites and a two-bedroom cottage for families.

Best described as a 'Slow Safari' in a truly vast wilderness, Tongole offers a relaxed experience of unrivalled tranquillity. With a wide choice of activities available, the unique advantage of staying at Tongole is that you'll never meet guests from another lodge allowing you to truly enjoy the surrounding areas and activities all to yourselves. Tongole offers you complete freedom to choose how you spend your days including nature walks, canoeing, birding, community visits, fly fishing, fly camping, or simply relaxing at the lodge overlooking the river or beside the swimming pool.

The Food of Love

Our in-house chef prepares a daily menu of breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. We have various decks around the lodge that we use for setting up romantic meals, depending on which are nicest at certain times of the day or if you would like some extra privacy. For example, our main deck is perfectly situated to watch the sunrise over an early morning breakfast, our Bua deck is an excellent viewpoint for watching local visiting elephants and for a special romantic dinner couples can dine under the stars on the Kachenga deck.
