Camel Safari in Rajasthan-A Romantic Getaway

DAY 1 : ARRIVE DELHI At Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport. You are greeted and escorted by our company representative to your prebooked hotel. Overnight stay. (Rooms Check-in 1400 hrs)

DAY 2 : DELHI Morning after breakfast proceed for a guided tour to explore Old Delhi. Drive past the magnificent Red Fort, built at the zenith of the Mughal Empire in India. The centuries- old international market- place that sprawls at its feet is still one of Delhi’s most important commercial hubs: Chandni Chowk, or as also known as the “Moonlight Square”. Walk through the bustling silver market and the wholesale spice market. The sounds, smells and colors of the bazaar, and the throngs of people who animate it make this an unforgettable spectacle. Visit Jumma Masjid, the largest mosque in Asia and Raj Ghat - Final resting place of Mahatma Gandhi.

Break for lunch (own expense) at Connaught Place, a commercial district, in the heart of town, known for its colonial heritage, as well as numerous shops and restaurants. Built in 1933, the district’s first buildings were inspired by Bath’s Royal Crescent, and the area was named after Queen Victoria’s third son, the Duke of Connaught.

Afternoon is reserved for New Delhi Sightseeing. The buildings designed by Edward Lutyens, architect of modern Delhi - are truly majestic. The Presidential Palace, Parliament House and India Gate are all reminiscent of the British “Raj”. Drive through Delhi’s beautiful tree-lined avenues and the Diplomatic Enclave Enroute to the 12th century, 234-foot high fluted minaret of Qutab Minar. Next visit Lotus Temple also known as Bhai Temple. Since its inauguration to public worship and visits in December 1986, the Baha’i House of Worship has drawn to its portals more than 70 million visitors, making it one of the most visited edifices in the world. Visitors have admired its universal design in the form of a lotus and have been fascinated by the Teachings of the Baha’i Faith, especially its tenets of the Oneness of God, the Oneness of Religions, and the Oneness of Mankind. Your tour will terminate with a visit to Humayun’s Tomb; the mausoleum of the second Mughal Emperor to rule India, Return to your hotel for Overnight stay. Included (B)

Day 3 : DELHI – JODHPUR (flight) Morning after breakfast, transfer to airport to board your flight to Jodhpur- “The Sun City" founded by Rao Jodha, a chief of the Rathore clan, in 1459 lying on the southern edge of the Thar Desert. On arrival, meeting, assistance and transfer to your pre booked hotel.

Late afternoon embark on a thrilling village jeep safari. The safari gives you an opportunity to meet the Bishnoi a native tribe in Guda Village and learn the skills of indigenous artists. The village is home to a vivid range of exotic wildlife and nature and a habitat for thousands of migratory birds in the area. One can often catch the Demoiselle crane frolicking at the lake. Antelopes and black bucks can also be spotted by the pond. The scenic beauty of the village marked with khejri trees, natural lake and deer’s makes your village safari even more adventurous and exciting. Return to your hotel for overnight stay. Included (B)

Day 4 : JODHPUR – JAISALMER Morning, after breakfast, transfer by surface to Jaisalmer nicknamed "The Golden City”. The town stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone, crowned by a fort, which contains the palace and several ornate Jain temples. Many of the houses and temples are finely sculptured. The city’s most prominent landmark is the Jaisalmer Fort. Unlike most other forts in India, Jaisalmer Fort is not just a tourist attraction. It houses shops, hotels and ancient havelis (homes) where generations continue to live till today. Cutting across the sand dunes of the Thar Desert this five hours drive is like a timeless journey. Later on arrival check-in at your hotel.

Afternoon proceed on a guided city sightseeing tour of Jaisalmer city, visiting Patwon-Ki Haveli -the most elaborately carved haveli of Jaisalmer, this five-story structure sits proudly in a narrow street. While the Nathmal Ji Ki Haveli is a beautiful blend of the symmetrical construction. Miniature style paintings and mighty tuskers carved out of yellow sandstone have been used for decoration. The Salim Singh Ji Ki Haveli built in the first half of the 18th century and a part of it is still occupied by descendants of the original residents. The high arched roof is supported by carved brackets designed in the shape of peacocks.

Visit Mandir Palace - the five-storied majestic Badal Mahal (Cloud Palace) which is further enhanced by its pagoda-like Tazia Tower followed by a visit to Gadisar Lake constructed in the 14th century by Maharawal Gadsi Singh to meet the water needs of his arid lands. Considering its importance, many small temples and shrines were constructed around it.

The highlight of this tour is the Jaisalmer Fort which also goes by the name of “Sonar Quila” (Golden Fort) as it rises from the desert itself and seems to become one with the golden hues of the sand. The setting sun adds its own magic and shrouds the fort with mystique. This 800 year Fort was built of golden yellow sandstone by Prince Jaisal on the Trikuta Hill. Within its walls defended by 99 turrets lies the old city, which is nearly a quarter of modern day Jaisalmer This fort is a UNESCO world heritage site

Finish your day visiting the Jain Temples located inside the Fort dating back to the 12th and 15th centuries. The temples are dedicated to Rikhabdevji and Shambhavdevji, famous Jain hermits known as “Tirthankars”. And like all other structures in Jaisalmer, the temples are carved out of yellow sandstone. Descend from the fort and walk thru the narrow yet fascinating by lanes of the old city to your vehicle to return to your hotel for overnight stay. Included (B)

Day 5 : JAISALMER – DESERT CAMP –FULL DAY SAFARI Morning after breakfast, transfer by Jeep to the Desert Camp, located approximately 50 km from Jaisalmer, in the heart of Thar Desert, an hour’s drive to reach the camp site. On arrival check into your tented accommodation. (Please note amenities are basic but comfortable)

After fresh & change, begin your safari (1 camel per person) with a visit to Bheelon ki Dhani (a village of tribal people) Afternoon we break for lunch and rest in the shade of trees near the oasis as the sun is fierce at this time of the day. Mid Afternoon the camel trek sets out again from Salkha village (Mixed caste village). You can watch native wild life and villages as you ride your camel through the isolated sand dunes at (Keshwa). Continue your trek across the desert, stopping on the way to watch the magical sunset before arriving at the campsite for your first night. After experiencing the desert you can start your evening by watching a delicious dinner being prepared for you over the camp fire and you can conclude your first day with the dreams of the desert while sleeping under the clear starry sky on your clean bed roll. Day 6 : FULL DAY SAFARI Get the real feel of sunrise, served with your breakfast, after which the Safari continues with stimulating visits to sand dunes and villages. Today you can experience the desert environment and get a glimpse of the desert vegetation and the mysterious creatures on the sand. The safari will halt at Lakhmna village (traditional village of Muslim people) & a Gypsy village (a village of mixed caste)

Afternoon we break for lunch and rest in the shade of trees. Midafternoon the camel trek sets out again and takes us to Luno Ki Basti and the beautiful Sajeet sand dunes. Continue your trek across the desert, stopping on the way to watch the magical sunset before arriving at the campsite on your second night. After experiencing the desert you can start your evening by watching a delicious dinner being prepared for you over the camp fire and you can conclude your second day with the dreams of the desert while sleeping under the clear starry sky on your clean bed roll. Day 7 : DESERT CAMP –JAISALMER –OSIAN -JODHPUR Morning after breakfast, depart by Jeep to Jaisalmer city and on arrival, change your vehicle, to continue your road trip to Jodhpur. En-route visiting desert hamlets and remnants of 16 Jain & Brahmanical Hindu Temples, built between the 8th & 11th century AD in Osian, the commercial city of yore which lies 242 kms from Jaisalmer and takes 4.5 hrs to reach. The Jain temple of the last Tirthankar Mahavir is visit worthy. Continue your journey of remaining 68 kms to Jodhpur and on arrival after 1.5 hours, check into your pre booked hotel, where you will be met by our company representative who will facilitate your check in.

Afternoon proceed on a guided excursion to Mandore Gardens located north of Jodhpur. Once the ancient capital of Marwar it is set on a plateau surrounded by beautiful gardens. This area is of major historical importance and you will find cenotaphs of Jodhpur’s former rulers. Unlike the original chhatri shaped cenotaphs that are typical patterns of Rajasthan architecture, these are built along the lines of Hindu temples. Visit the Hall of heroes and the Shrine of 300 million Gods. Return to hotel for overnight stay. Included (B)

Day 8 : JODHPUR –RANAKPUR -UDAIPUR Morning after breakfast is reserved for half day guided sightseeing city tour of “Sun City”Jodhpur, also called the Blue City, due to most of the houses painted blue in the old city. You get a magnificent bird’s eye view of the city from top of the hill on which the majestic Mehrangarh Fort stands. Visit Jaswant Thada the white marble cenotaphs of Maharana Jaswant Singh surrounded by 4 other of later rulers. Next visit Mehrangarh fort situated on a 150 m high hill is one of the largest forts in Rajasthan. Seven gates have to be crossed to reach the fort. The gates still bear the marks of the various battles fought in the bygone era. Its second gate still stands witness to canon ball hits by attacking armies of Jaipur during wars.

Other attractions include several palaces inside the fort, with their sprawling and huge courtyards. One of the fort's palaces, The Moti Mahal or the Pearl Palace, has the royal throne of Jodhpur, the Sringar Chowki. The fort also has galleries, temples, etc. Marvel at the exquisite carvings and lattice works on the sandstone walls of the fort. Visit the armoury and the museum located inside the fort premises .On your return journey walk thru Sojati gate to Sadar Bazar with its ornate & ancient clock tower.

Afternoon depart by surface for Udaipur, the lake city of Rajasthan. En route visit the temples of Ranakpur, set in a remote valley in the Aravalli range it showcases some of the finest stone carvings and sculptures in this 15th century Jain temple complex. The temples with its 29 halls & 1444 beautifully carved marble pillars are believed to have been built around 1439 A.D. The temple is dedicated to Tirthankar Adinath. Local legend has it that Dharma Shah, a local Jain business-man, started construction of the temple in the 15th century following a divine vision.

The town of Ranakpur and the temple are named after the provincial ruler monarch, Rana Kumbha who supported the construction of the temple. Also visit the Sun Temple and Chaumukha – finest examples of Jain ecclesiastical architecture. After enjoying your unique experience at these temples, head towards Udaipur. Later on arrival check into your hotel for overnight stay. Included (B)

Day 09 : UDAIPUR Morning after breakfast is reserved for half day guided city sightseeing tour of Udaipur city. Visit the City Palace. Here you will marvel at rooms with mirrored walls and ivory doors, colored glass windows and inlaid marble balconies and the Peacock Courtyard. Visit the 300-year-old Jagdish Temple and the Royal Cenotaphs of the Rajput kings followed by Sahelion- ki-Bagh, Fateh Sagar Lake, Pratap Smarak & the Sajjan Niwas Gardens before returning to hotel.

Afternoon visit Sajjangarh, also called Monsoon Palace, a fortified palace atop a steep hill, overlooking the city of Udaipur, providing magnificent views of the lakes and palaces of Udaipur.

Evening transfer to the banks of Lake Pichola to enjoy a boat ride on the lake visiting Gangaur Ghat, small islands inhabited by migratory birds, and the Jag Mandir Palace, where Shah Jahan stayed for a while during his exile. Enjoy sunset before returning back to hotel for overnight stay. Included (B)

Day 10 : UDAIPUR –JAIPUR (Flight) Morning after breakfast, transfer to the airport to board flight to Jaipur. On arrival, meeting, assistance and transfer to your hotel. Jaipur, the city of Forts & Palaces –An exuberance of color, dance & song with traditional arts and crafts. Known as the 'Pink City' it is one of India's most well planned cities with wide straight avenues, roads, streets and lanes in a grid system. An hour’s flight gets you to this land of Maharaja's, forts & Palaces and diversity of heritage & culture that is unique to the State of Rajasthan.

Afternoon is reserved for a guided city tour visiting the City Palace & its Museum situated in the heart of the old City occupying about one seventh of the old city area. (The present king still resides in this Palace) The palace is a blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. The museum has a rich collection of costumes, textiles. Armory and weapons. Next visit Jantar Mantar (UNESCO World Heritage site) an observatory built in 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, where the huge masonry instruments were used to study the movement of constellations and stars in the sky.

Drive past Hawa Mahal (Palace of winds) built in 1799, by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, is the most recognizable monument of Jaipur. The 5 storied stunning semi-octagonal monument having 152 windows with over hanging latticed balconies is a fine piece of Rajput architecture. Originally designed for the royal ladies to watch and enjoy the processions and other activities, on the street below. Stop here for photos, before continuing on to Albert Hall Museum, located in the premises of Ram Niwas Garden. Its Indo- Saracenic architecture and stone ornamentation became a source of reference for varied classical Indian styles of design from Mughals to Rajputs. The foundation stone of Albert Hall was laid during the visit of the Prince of Wales, Albert Edward to Jaipur in 1876 and was completed in 1887. Return to your hotel for Overnight stay. Included (B)

Day 11 : JAIPUR Morning after breakfast proceed for half day guided excursion to see one of the most impressive forts of Rajasthan. Visit the impressive Amber Fort taking an elephant ride to the main entrance gate of the fort. (In case of non-availability Jeeps will be used) & (Those who do not want to ride an elephant can walk up to the fort)

The fort is situated 11 Kms from Jaipur and was the ancient citadel of the ruling Kachhawa's of Amber, before the capital was shifted to the plains, the present day Jaipur. It is set in picturesque and rugged hills and is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Constructed by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 and completed by Mirja Raja Jai Singh the fort was made in red sand stone and white marble. Amber holds the history of a citadel, pulsating with a legendary past of 600 years & 28 kings of the Kachhawa dynasty. Return to your hotel.

Afternoon is free to explore the exotic & colorful markets, handicraft & jewelers shops, clothes boutiques, museum and art galleries of Jaipur (Vehicle and driver will be at disposal). Overnight stay. Included (B)

Day 12 : JAIPUR – ABHANERI -FATEHPUR SIKRI - AGRA Morning after breakfasts depart by surface for the Mughal splendor of Agra. A 5.5 hour’s drive gets us to this fascinating historically rich city of the Taj Mahal.

En-route you halt to see the step wells of Abhaneri Village & later the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri.

Abhaneri is located at a distance of 95 km from Jaipur, on the Jaipur-Agra road. This small village is popular for the Chand Baori step well which is one of India's deepest and largest step wells (also known as tank gardens). Step wells are unique to India. They were used as cool places of resort, as pools for ritual cleansing before a temple visit and as a water supply for dry weather. Adjoining the step well is the Harshat Mata Temple. Even though the village is now in ruins, it attracts large number of tourists from across the globe.

Continue your journey to Fatehpur Sikri, the ghost city lying 35 km from Agra. Fatehpur Sikri built in red sandstone in honor of Saint Salim Chisti, who foretold the birth of 3 sons to Emperor Akbar, is an example of robust stability combined with originality. Each important edifice here represents a type by itself. Notable among them is the Diwan- e- Khas, Punch Mahal, the Tomb of Salim Chisti, and the Buland Darwaza. Continue your drive to Agra and on arrival check-in to your pre booked hotel. Included (B)

Day 13 : AGRA Morning after breakfast Begin your guided tour visiting Sikandra the mausoleum of Akbar. Akbar himself started construction of this beautiful monument. This structure has a perfect blending of Hindu, Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, Jain themes. Sikandra Fort is located in the western periphery of the city at a distance of about 10 Kms from the city center. After visit return to Agra City and visit the Agra Fort which lies across the river Yamuna which abode attractive constructions such as Pearl Mosque, Jahangir Mahal, Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-i- Am and more. It was here that Aurangzeb the 3rd son of Shah Jahan kept his father under house arrest until his death.

Next visit a marble cutting & manufacturing factory. You can use the rest rooms here. Agra Marble craftsmanship lives up to its reputation of creating some of the finest marble inlay artwork in the industry today. It is interesting watching how the designs you see at the Taj Mahal are produced and continue to be manufactured for consumption around the world. Break for lunch (own expense) at a city Restaurant, before returning to your hotel.

Early Evening proceed on “Tonga” (Horse driven chariots) with your guide to visit the incomparable Taj Mahal (UNESCO Heritage Site. An architectural love letter, this massive marble temple in northern India is one of the most recognizable structures on the planet. Situated on the banks of river Yamuna, the monumental beauty has inspired countless people around the world and is a fine example of fusion of many architectural styles. It is one of the wonders of the modern world. Built in the year 1652, by Emperor Shah Jahan to immortalize the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who tragically died in the year 1631, it took 22 years and 20,000 skilled artisans to complete this poem in white marble. Enjoy sunset over the Taj before returning to your hotel for overnight stay. Included (B)

Day 14 : AGRA - DELHI Early Morning before sunrise (subject to weather condition) around 0530 hrs proceed with your guide to Mehtab Bagh which is the best place to see Taj at sunrise. The garden complex is perfectly aligned with the Taj Mahal on the opposite bank. This was the last of eleven Mughal- built gardens along River Yamuna which flows in between the Taj and Agra Fort.

Also visit Itmaudualla - a Mughal mausoleum, often described as a "jewel box", and sometimes called the "Baby Taj", the tomb is often regarded as a draft of the Taj Mahal. Queen Noor Jahan, wife of Emperor Jahangir, commissioned this mausoleum for her father Mirza Ghiyās Beg, originally a Persian Amir in exile who had been given the title of I’timād-ud-Daulah (pillar of the state). Noor Jahan was also responsible for the construction of the Tomb of Jahangir and her own at Lahore. Mirza Ghiyās Beg was the grandfather of Mumtaz Mahal (originally named Arjūmand Bāno, daughter of Asaf Khan), the wife of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, responsible for the construction of the Taj Mahal. Return for breakfast.

Later after a leisurely breakfast, depart for Delhi by surface. A 3.5 hrs drive gets us back to the capital city of India. On arrival, check into your pre booked hotel. Balance day is free for own activities. A Day to write your memoirs, drink a margarita by the poolside, read a book, laze around or simply go shopping. (Vehicle with driver will be at your disposal) Overnight stay in hotel. Included: (B)

Day 15 : Depart Delhi On time transfer to International Airport to board flight for onward destination. (Check-out is 12 Noon)

C'MORE "The Company" accepts bookings subject following conditions: On confirmation of the programme from the " Company " a deposit equal to 50% (fifty) of the contracted value of the tour price is required to be sent directly to the "Company's" bankers, vide swift transfer/ credit card with a confirmation copy of the same to the "Company's " headquarters, at New Delhi. The balance of the contracted value 50% (Fifty) shall be paid not less than 35 days before commencement of tour OR a deposit of 100% (Hundred) is required 35 days before commencement of tour.

Please note for FIT and GROUP Travel, Fair period, Luxury Resorts,Luxury Train holidays & during Peak season (October to March) 100% (Hundred) is required minimum 90 days prior to travel date.

CANCELLATIONS: Travel dates may be changed up to 35 days prior to travel without penalty. An administration charge of 10% will be charged, if a confirmed booking is changed or transferred up to 35 days before commencement of the tour. After this time all changes will be treated as cancellation and will be subject to the charges mentioned below. Cancellation charges are calculated from the day, written acceptance of confirmation along with deposit is received by the “Company” and expressed herewith as a percentage of the total tour price including surcharge as follows:
