Huck Finn Adventure

Dubrovnik Adventure Sailing Break

Your home for this adventure will be a comfortable sailing catamaran that easily accommodates 10 persons. It is big enough for everyone to have their own space without feeling cramped.

We will visit islands of the Elaphiti Archipelago: 13 islands stretching west from Dubrovnik. Only three of those islands have people living on them year round: Lopud, Kolocep and Sipan, and Kolocep and Lopud are completely car free. You will also discover a national park situated on the island of Mljet – you will cycle around two salt water lakes and visit the islet with the monastery in one of those lakes. Finally, we visit the Peljesac peninsula, home of some of the best Croatian wines, and a place to enjoy the freshest oysters and mussels.

Our experienced local guides and skippers will avoid overcrowded destinations ensuring you get the most authentic short cruise experience. You will have the opportunity to dine with local families in their homes and enjoy good food and excellent wine. Friendly dolphins or tuna in the area often escort our yachts. The sea is blue, clear, warm and friendly.

Day 1 We meet at our in Komolac, 7 km (4.4 mi) from Dubrovnik. Boarding at 10 am for Saturday and Sunday departures and 2 pm for Tuesday and Wednesday departures. We sail toward the island of Kolocep where we stop for a swimming break. You will also have a chance to try out paddleboards before stopping for lunch in one of the best fish restaurants of Dubrovnik area. In the afternoon we sail past Lopud island to anchor for the night in a beautiful bay on Sipan island.

Day 2 Our next stop is Mljet Island National Park, a perfect place for activities such as sea kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, cycling and swimming. Entrance fee to the national park is not included in our price, but can be paid on spot. Lush pine forest hides two salt water lakes. You can cycle from our mooring to the lakes and time permitting take a boat to the small island on larger of the lakes and visit an abandoned monastery built in 13th century. Later in the afternoon we sail to the Zuljana Bay on Peljesac peninsula where we will spend the night.

Day 3 We spend the morning paddle boarding, swimming and snorkeling in the quiet Zuljana bay before we sail east towards Broce and Ston. We moor in Broce and cycle to the medieval town of Ston. Town’s stone walls are 5 km (3 mi) long and were built to protect salt production at a time when salt was an important export product of Dubrovnik Republic. You can walk around the walls that connects Ston and Mali Ston (Little Ston), famous for its oyster farms. Peljesac is also one of the best Croatian wine making regions, famous for its red wines. You will sail by the vineyards perched on the steep southern slopes of the peninsula, and do not miss the chance to try those wines.

Day 4 On our way back to Komolac, we sail by the green Elaphiti Islands. Disembark around noon for Saturday and Sunday departures and 4 pm for Tuesday and Wednesday departures. We invite you to spend some time in Komolac, enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before continuing to the airport or your next destination. If you are visiting some new places in Croatia feel free to ask your guides for recommendations. They know all the best places, and can point you to some that are less popular, but nevertheless beautiful.

Description

If Dubrovnik is a pearl of Adriatic, the Elaphiti Archipelago are emeralds thrown into the sapphire blue of the Adriatic. The string of 13 islands stretches north from Dubrovnik and is a genuine oasis of peace. Only three islands have people living on them year round and only around 600 people lives on all three of them combined. They are ideally located – we reach them in under an hour’s time from Dubrovnik and explore them while sea kayaking, cycling, sailing, swimming, snorkeling and hiking
