Day-trip 1 - Shark-cage diving or Marine Safari in Gansbaai 2 hour drive from Cape Town

Dyer Island Cruises specialize in the "Marine Big 5" experience, where we hope to find whales, dolphins, seals, sharks, and African penguins on each trip. Not to mention our incredible seabird sightings (albatross, petrels, skuas, etc) and breath-taking unspoiled scenery - we show you whales and then some!

Or be brave and attempt shark cage diving. It is only a 20 minute boat ride into Kleinbaai to be able to view sharks in the wild, safe inside a wire cage that is attached to the boat. There is no feeding of sharks nor any handling of sharks. The trip takes about 2 hours to give everyone on board a chance to get into the water. Only 8 people at a time go into the cage. End the morning having lunch in the area.

Day-trip 2 - ‘Big 5’ Private Game Reserve for a safari 2,5 hours from Cape Town

Aquila Private Game Reserve, a ‘Big 5’ reserve boarding the Karoo, offers a true safari. Depart CT early either by vehicle or helicopter and arrive for breakfast followed by a guided game drive in an open safari vehicle. This is followed by lunch and then a quad bike or horseback safari before departing back to Cape Town. This trip can be an overnight at one of the lodges. There is also a spa for added comforts.

Day-trip 3 - Protea Farm tractor ride in Montague 3 hours from Cape Town

Morning or afternoon tractor rides up the Langeberg Mountain Range near Montagu, known for its hot mineral springs and abundance and variety of dried fruit and mountain walks. Take a bird’s eye view of the Koo Valley before returning to a sumptuous “potjiekos” (Africa black pot on the fire) lunchtime experience. There are Wooden Cabins on the farm for those who wish to stay longer.
