Cape Town and its surrounding areas offer a plethora of activities for adventurous couples and travellers.
Here are a few of our recommended experiences to choose from:
Shark Cage Diving
The shark cage diving companies are based in Gansbaai, 2 hours from Cape Town. Shark Alley is a narrow strip of ocean between a bird island and colony of Cape Fur Seals. This area attracts many types of sharks including the Great White. Shark cage diving is a nature extreme adventure that is guaranteed to send a chill down your spine. Experience sharing the waters with one or more of these apex predators.
Abseiling off Table Mountain
You get some serious bragging rights when Abseiling down one of the 7 wonders of nature which is the iconic Table Mountain. Step off the top, at 1067 meters above sea level, and rappel into pure vertical space. The panoramic views from the top of Table Mountain are breathtaking, but the views from the abseil are even better. Descending down the side of a sheer cliff you will have Camps Bay, the Atlantic Seaboard and the deep blue ocean at your feet with the Twelve Apostles at your side. The Table Mountain Abseil is guaranteed to get your pulse racing. This 112 metre abseil is the highest commercial abseil in the world and is known to bring out the ultimate sense of adventure.
Paragliding off Signal Hill
Cape Town Paragliding offers tandem paragliding flights from Signal Hill and Lions Head. Where better to embark on a Tandem Paragliding adventure than in Cape Town – the city that boasts the nomination for most spectacular Paragliding destination in the world! Tandem paragliding instructional flights are a great way of getting into paragliding or just experiencing the joy of free-flight. Flights last anything from 8-15 mins.
Hot Air Ballooning in the Winelands
We offer an unforgettable experience by taking you on an adventurous journey over the Cape winelands at sunrise. There are many ways to see the Cape Winelands, with its brilliant colours, craggy mountains and manicured vineyards, but none as exciting and unique as riding in a hot air balloon over this picture perfect countryside just outside Cape Town, South Africa.
Skydiving along the West Coast
To do a tandem skydive is one of the “ must do '' things while visiting Cape Town. The plane ride to altitude 9000ft above the ground is breathtaking. To the South, the Mother City lies sandwiched between towering Table Mountain and bustling Table Bay harbour. Further to the south, and to the far side of the mountain, lies False Bay, Hout Bay and the splendour of the South Peninsula as far as Cape Point. To the West, you will spot Robben Island - Cape Town's own Alcatraz - and the Atlantic breaking on the beautiful Cape West Coast, as famous for its icy water temperature as its mouth-watering crayfish.
Sea Kayaking in Table Bay or Simons Town
Explore the fresh movements of the Atlantic Ocean, encounter the active marine life, and possibly catch a glimpse of some local dolphins, whales, seals, penguins, and sunfish. With mountains as a backdrop, experience a unique perspective in Cape Town or from Simons Town, one of the most unique places in the world - a penguin colony in suburban Cape Town! And the best way to see it is from the water.
Snorkeling with Seals
Snorkeling is a great way to observe our beautiful underwater life as it allows you to get up close to hundreds of Cape Fur seals which occur naturally on islands around the southern African coast and are found nowhere else in the world! Seal Snorkelers can always see seals in the water and there are no sharks present. This is a wildlife adventure that brings you mask-to-whisker with playful and inquisitive wild animals in their natural habitat. The snorkeling team of passionate marine guides are excited to share the beauty of the ocean with you.
Adventure Freediving
If you find yourself curious about what lies beneath the waves, dreaming of interacting with marine life or exploring underwater structures, keen to learn about marine fauna and flora and doing so in the most natural way possible – adventure freediving is for you! The focus is on providing you with the specific freedive knowledge, skills, confidence and insight to make your ocean adventures as safe and fun as they should be. Swim the same places shown in the film, ‘My Octopus Teacher’.
Scuba diving among sunken ships
The South African Navy scuttled five wrecks in the early 1970's to form an artificial reef for the sake of scuba divers, right in the middle of Smitswinkel Bay making it one of South Africa's most challenging wreck dives. Not only are the wrecks are covered with plenty of soft corals, sponges and sea fans, they are also teeming with fish and other marine life. You can spot anemones, nudibranch and starfish to name a few. Bring a torch to appreciate the fantastic array of colours in full. At an average depth of 35 metres, they make for an eerie underwater experience but due to the depth the wrecks are only suitable for the more experienced divers.
