Package Policies

Important information

1. Available October to May
2. Guests must be booked into Karoo Lodge or The Manor for a minimum of 2 nights
3. The star bed is not available to guests staying at Plains Camp
4. The star bed must be requested at the time of booking and is subject to availability (first come, first served)
5. The star bed sleeps 2 guests – ideal for couples or friends/family who are happy to share a bed
6. Minimum age 16 years
7. Weather dependent. The star bed will not be offered in the event of rain or high wind. If your original night is rained out, you may swap for another night during your stay, subject to not clashing with another guest’s prior booking.
8. No electricity, Wifi or mobile phone signal
9. Ablutions are simple – a washbasin and chemical loo
10. Guests will not be accompanied by a member of staff overnight, but they will have access to and be taught how to use a two-way radio in case of emergency
11. The star bed platform is fenced with solar-powered electric strands for safety reasons
12. Price: From R5,500, applicable to up to 2 guests. Any additional persons will be at the discretion of management and may incur further charges.
13. Inclusions: Picnic-style dinner. Overnight accommodation in King-sized bed with mosquito net, blankets and hot water bottles (if required). Bottle of sparkling/other local wine. Simple ablutions. Transport to/from star bed. Soft drinks, tea, coffee and rusks for sunrise. A full cooked breakfast and hot shower will be available on return to the lodge.
14. Exclusions: Other beverages. These may be ordered at extra cost from the wine list prior to departure.
