We offer rooms ideal for couples, with private comfortable balconies, views of the Nicoya Peninsula and/or Cloud Forest, an open bathroom concept, and jacuzzi.

Take your lunch on your hike to the cloud forest, to one of the lovely rivers in the area, or to any of the other wonderful natural sites in Monteverde. We will prepare a basket with your choice from our lunch menu including wine, beverages, and dessert.
-Private Romantic Dinner
Enjoy a private dinner prepared by our chef especially for you. Savor your meal under the stars on your own terrace or in a private area of our Tea Room. The meal consists of custom-prepared courses, wine or champagne, and your own personal waiter to tend to your every need. Please reserve at least 24 hours in advance.
-Breakfast in bed
Enjoy the world’s best coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, and your choice from our a la carte breakfast menu in the privacy of your room. Served on your terrace, by your hot tub, or in bed.

What to Do
Guided Nature Hike:
This 3.5-hour guided hike through the lush and lively cloud forest trails is the highlight of many guests’ Monteverde experience. Our maximum group size of six helps avoid the crowds and feel immersed in nature. Led by Hotel Belmar’s English-speaking naturalist guide, this hike proves an excellent opportunity to explore Costa Rica’s plant and wildlife species while gleaning a better understanding of the rare and complex ecosystems alive in the cloud forest. Prices include transportation, entrance fee, and multi-lingual guide.
Bird Watching Experience:
Whether you are an expert ornithologist or an amateur bird watcher, we’re sure that you will enjoy this half-day birding adventure through the cloud forest during the peak feeding time for the birds in Monteverde
Farm to Table Experience:
During this journey through the Belmar gastronomy program, you will learn about what Costa Rican farm-to-table is all about. Visit Finca Madre Tierra, where you will experience picking coffee beans, grinding sugarcane and meeting our free-range chickens, cows and more. Then we will take you to our organic garden close to Restaurante Celajes. Learn about the systems we use to responsibly practice organic agriculture and fertility through composting. Finally, you will indulge in a special menu prepared in the beautiful setting of the Belmar organic garden. Try our garden to glass artisanal cocktails or craft beers and relax as you see the whole process come full circle.
Brewery Tour:
Cervezas Belmar is one of the first breweries in the country, and specializes in artisanal, small-lot ales. After a brief history of beer, you will learn about the operations of our one of a kind microbrewery, where every beer is made with cloud forest spring water! To finish the experience, you will enjoy a tasting of all three of our flagship beers in the brewery garden.
Garden to Glass:
Whether a spirited novice or a seasoned cocktail connoisseur, our experienced bartenders will tailor your Garden to Glass experience to you. Starting out, enjoy craft cocktails made in front of you along with explanations of ingredients, mixology and how mixed drinks evolve into art. Then, grab a basket and explore Hotel Belmar’s private gardens to pick herbs and flowers to use in your very own concoction. Finish up at the bar enjoying your handmade cocktail and bocas courtesy of Restaurante Celajes.
Farm Visit + Horseback Ride:
Madre Tierra Farm provides Hotel Belmar’s eggs, cheese and coffee and completes the lifecycle of the hotels most essential systems. Depending on what activities are happening on your day at the farm, you could be milking cows for the first time, watching the cheese get made, picking coffee beans or straining sugar cane for a sweet post-hike drink. You will meet our cows, pigs, goats, and chickens, before you take a ride off into the sunset on one of our well-trained horses. During this visit, you will also learn about how Hotel Belmar’s farm, Madre Tierra, was the first carbon neutral farm in the country and the Belmar family’s dedication to sustainability and preservation of the environment. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience perfect for couples or families that want an authentic farm experience while learning and exploring how the environment sustains us every day!
Countryside Horseback Ride:
Adventure through the Costa Rican countryside atop a well-trained horse with your loved one(s). At the Madre Tierra Farm, each horse is reared with respect, positive reinforcement and natural horsemanship techniques. Suitable for all skill levels, a bilingual guide will lead a group on horseback through the farm, over small streams and throughout the countryside. Sustainable Agriculture:

Visit the Belmar farm, Finca Madre Tierra to explore how an organic, carbon-neutral farm operates, and how to work with our environment to produce sustainable and delicious food to nourish communities. Experience picking coffee beans, grinding sugar cane and eating a farm fresh snack on this unforgettable farm trip!
The Food of Love
Farm to table Our onsite garden organically produces most foods needed for a complete nutritious diet, such as kale, broccoli, arugula, radish, celery, lettuce, green pepper, tomato, oregano, basil, tarragon, parsley, coriander, aloe, and lavender, sunflower seeds, and many more! In order to maximize natural growth benefits we use the Biointensive method, which consists of growing many plants in a reduced amount of space creating an environment that naturally protects plants from pests and moisture and nutrient loss.
We offer complimentary tours daily, and we welcome guests to take a self-guided stroll through our garden and see first hand what goes on your plate!
