Love at First Sight

Shakti Himalaya organise guided treks and village life experiences in the outstanding natural beauty of the Himalayan foothills in the north of India. Instead of hotel accommodation, their trips feature stays in converted village houses, some of which date back as far as 300 years. The company also has its own private lodge, 360° Leti, located on a plateau at an altitude of over 2,200 metres with stunning views of the Himalayan peaks. Treks are available in two districts, in the Kumaon region in the northern hill state of Uttarakhand, and the Ladakh district in the state of Jammu and Kashmir which borders Tibet.

You'll find yourself in all kinds of incredible locations such as the traditional mountain village market in Rinchenpon. There will be many highlights during your trek including a walk up Pemayangste Hill to see a spectacular dawn breaking over the Himalayas. You'll trek through fragrant pine forests and along valleys with rushing rivers fed by Himalayan snow melt, and you'll get the chance to visit villages where life continues as it has done for centuries.

Your Stay

Accommodation ranges from picturesque village homes to more modern properties and includes the Shakti 360° Leti in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand. This purpose built lodge features a clever combination of traditional and modern building techniques and is designed to fit in with the breathtaking mountain landscapes that surround it. Holiday packages are fully inclusive and include private accommodation in village houses, all meals and beverages, and English speaking guides

What to Do

All of Shakti Himalaya tours include visits to mountain villages and chances to meet local people and learn about their everyday lives. Depending on which tour you choose, there may also be opportunities for rafting, fishing and visits to Buddhist monasteries. Trekking ranges from quite gentle to more arduous where a reasonable level of fitness is required.

The Food of Love

All meals are provided with lunch frequently consisting of a picnic amid beautiful mountain scenery. Food ranges from Indian and European dishes to more exotic and traditional choices from the local districts you'll be exploring.
