UK Escapes for a Romantic Babymoon

We know all about the Honeymoon and the Mini-Moon, but the last year has seen the rise of the beautiful Babymoon. The weeks leading up to the arrival of your little one can be a flurry of activity wrapped up in a whirlwind of preparation, which is why we love this new trend - and it’s popularity is growing bigger and quicker than your third trimester bump! These weeks are a precious time for you and your partner to spend as a couple, and the Babymoon is a time for an intimate escape for you to spend quality time together (not to mention savour the sleep whilst you can!).

Whilst many may talk of the merits of jetting off somewhere tropical abroad in the sun, we feel we should favour the UK when your new addition to the family is just around the corner. Balmy beaches may sound heavenly, but no pregnant woman wants to be facing changing time-zones, pulling suitcases through an airport or trying to find serenity in 30-degree heat. Add in the fact that you’ll have the hassle of getting a letter from your doctor before you fly, won’t be able to find solace in the steam rooms and saunas, or drink cocktails from coconuts, and staying in the UK gives you the space for a simpler and more spontaneous Babymoon weekend away with your loved one.

The Lake District is one of the most picturesque places in the UK, known for its glacial ribbon lakes, rugged fell mountains and its historic literary associations - in fact, Wordsworth famously described the Lakes’ village of Grasmere as ‘the loveliest spot that man hath ever found’, which has been aptly honoured by the luxurious Wordsworth Hotel & Spa. Here, you will find calm in the classic English countryside; a place for long walks in peaceful and tranquil scenes, and quaint and charming market towns will seduce you with traditional inns and local art galleries, as well as the stunning natural landscape.

If you’d like to mark these last darling days alone with your loved one with a more lavish lifestyle, then London may be your love story of choice. Soak up city life and enjoy drinking coffee at chic cafés, dining at glamorous restaurants, wander through the endless art galleries and enjoy a night out to the theatre - before a baby makes these things a more challenging affair. The Draycott Hotel is steeped in Edwardian splendour, with magnificent high ceilings, ornate chandeliers and plush romantic guest suites for parents-to-be.

Pregnant couples celebrating their babymoon in destinations such as the Lake District, London and Edinburgh for a romantic break

If you’d like somewhere in between a rural retreat and a glamorous city-break, Edinburgh may hold the key to your heart’s desire. A stunning historic city, Edinburgh will sweep you off your feet with its gorgeous Old Town and rich regal majesty - the pace of the place is slower than the capital, but this is a city that sparkles. The Roxburghe Hotel offers a heavenly hideaway for Babymooners, where you can ease away the stresses and strains of pregnancy with a lovingly designed pregnancy massage and facial, followed by a sophisticated three-course meal.

For more inspiration for your blissful Babymoon, we have a wealth of wonderful options for you to choose from for you celebration. Congratulations, Mums and Dads to be! Enjoy each magical moment of your Babymoon break, before the most magical moment of all arrives.
